Belly heat vs Back heat? + Tub size

Hey guys,

Been talking to a buddy of mine, who told me I should just go with flexwatt run down the back of my rack I plan on building instead of the belly heat as it can give me the same temperature gradient I'm looking for within the tubs + don't have to worry about the contact + wear and tear of the tubs sitting and being slid on top of the tape. Just want to know all of your thoughts on this, and what you think would be best. He's been breeding for years and has had great success with his projects + racks. Just want a second opinion!!

I'd go with 11' run down the back and have one piece for every two 6qt's and one strip down for every adult sized tub - which i'm still trying to figure out what size to go with if you guys can help me on this as well. I'm thinking maybe 24qt tubs for my adults? nice and roomy and can put two female together if needed?

Thanks a lot for all your help guys!!

I recently built a rack and im using heat tape, it works great, id think using flexwatt is more efficient and cheaper for a rack instead of back heat, im not sure what the dimensions of a 24qt are but i keep all of mine in 28 its pretty roomy and if you ever needed them to share pace sor for breeding groups then that would be perfect.

belly heat is IDEAL for geckos. Im sure the back heat would work but you would have to crank the thermostat up higher to get desired surface temps.

Okay thanks a lot guys :) I appreciate all the input. Going with belly heat was my initial idea and with what your all saying i'm defiantly going to stick with it!
