hey, ive never had or used one but i work at target and we have a sony cybershot W330 that has 14.1 megapixels, 4x optical zoom, 8x digital zoom, and HD movies capabilities and it is on sale for right around $150, you can get them online at that price too. i thought about picking up one myself since the megapixels are so high and its decently cheap, most of the slr's arent even over 14.1 megapixels hope this helps!

Wouldn't it matter if you took a picture, such as a head shot of a gecko and then zoomed in and cropped it for a eye shot since you are blowing up the picture?Ratman667 said:First, Mega-pixels aren't that important anymore. Unless you are printing poster size photos that is...

A higher megapixel count can come in handy if you are trying to get a close up of a small area in a large photo. But, if you either zoom in or move the camera closer, you don't have to worry about it.
Just because camera "A" has, lets say, 15 megapixel count and camera "B" has 15 megapixel count, the images will not be the same size or resolution. It comes down to the sensor in the camera.
Here is a conversation on this very topic.
Just so we are clear, I'm not telling the OP to go out and buy a lower resolution camera. I'm just pointing out that megapixel count is not as important as camera makers want you to think.
In the end, it comes down to the person holding the camera more than it does the camera itself.
