Hey gang I'm tired of going to mart or co to get my crickets and all of there mealworms are dead, like they haven't reordered in 6-7 months. I like what I hear about Dubi roaches. What would be another good feeder and what are some good feeder breeders?

Lateralis roaches are good, they are smaller than dubia, roughly cricket sized, and breed much faster. I have ordered from The Bug Pros, they often run a special, 2000 lateralis for 29.99 shipped.

You can also breed your own mealworms and superworms, there is a lot of good information here on both if you do a search. If you are really motivated you can breed your own crickets, but they are noisy, stinky, and take a lot of space, not really worth it in most cases. The best place to order crickets and worms depends on where you are located, generally you want to get them from a dealer that is as close to you as possible, otherwise shipping costs get ridiculous.

The lateralis breed very fast and dont dig or burrow. They are about the closest to cricket size for commonly available. non glass climbing species. Dubia are also very good. if using either or both of those mealworms or superworms will be unnecessary, as the roaches are nutrionally superior to the superworms and mealworms and crickets for that matter. Remember variety in and of itself means nothing if the different items arent also bringing different and complimentary nutrients to the menu. Roaches alone will give you superior results to say roaches, crickets and mealworms together.

I have heard that one of the cons of lateralis is that they are extremely quick and tend to jump? I am very curious though, considering starting a colony in the next months... any clarity would be appreciated. I do like that they the size of large crickets. My leopard geckos are all under 60 grams, so it would work well.

Also, how do you clean their tubs? How do you get each and every one of them out of the old one?
