Right now, I am using the Hovabator 1602N. I did disconnect the wafer thing, and I am using a Herpstat Intro to regulate temps. Temps are staying at 82.6. Using the G.E.O. cups for the eggs. Good hatch rate so far.:main_thumbsup:

I picked up a Little Giant from Tractor Supply to save shipping. Its basically the same thing as a hovabator but doesn't look as cool in style...haha. It was about $40 and being able to pick it up saved me shipping. Temperature seems to be super stable so far. I've hatched two purdy little TS girls so far and have 15 more in the incubator. I was thinking of picking up another so I could incubate a few males as well.

I agree with the above poster thought that if you have $$ to spare Natures Spirit are definitely top of the line. The guy who makes them vends at local reptile shows and I drool over them every time he's there.

I do this with a helix thermostat, but just turned the hovabator wafer thermostat all the way up. By disconnecting the wafer, do you mean just unscrewing it all the way so it falls out? I just got another hovabator and would like to try this and compare to just turning the wafer all the way up.

Yes, I just unscrewed it and removed it entirely. People have done it both ways, like you...turning it all the way up, and like me...removing it. :D

I think I am going to go along with Sally's idea. I have been trying different incubation ways by testing temp consistancy and I am thinking that I will order a HovaBator and HerpStat Into from BeanFarm. I read about people going for females by just placing the tub in the viv so I placed two test tubs in the top two rack tubs I have and they have been staying around 82.5-83.5 so if I get eggs before my incubator, thats what I will use

Awesome! You'll have to post pictures when it gets to you! How long did it take them to ship it out? If I'm lucky the used one I committed to buy is hopefully going to show up at a local reptile show next weekend :p

My Nature Spirit arrived yesterday. Minor damage. The top left corner is loose, and lifts up. I am thinking a little silicone will fix it. I sent email to Casey to confirm if this will work. Waiting for him to reply.

In the meantime, I set it up, and OMG even with the cracked top, the temps are staying right at 82.2-82.4. Using a Herpstat thermostat. I have a mock GEO cup set up with a temp probe. Such a big difference in the consistency compared to my Hovabator. Very happy!!!:main_thumbsup:
