I'm planning on buying one or more racks in the somewhat near future...maybe for pick-up at Tinley. My problem is - I'm not sure what to get! I know a lot of you have, and love, AP racks, but I need more info. Let me know what you have, pros and cons, etc. Anyone have the standard AP and the economy APs? What about the Vision racks? Others?

I'm looking at everything from weight (I'm on the 3rd floor), can it be broken down for moving, price (of course), ease of setup, heat retention, type of heat used, etc. I've been using flexwatt for a long time now, never used heat cable. Can anyone tell me (or link) about heat cable, how it's set up, etc.

The more info the better!:main_thumbsup:

LOL...PM me your #. Duh...I should look on your website. At any rate, I can't call tonight. I need to go to bed because I have to be up at the crack of dawn. Grrrr. I'll have to call tomorrow evening.

I'm switching to Boaphile when I get the chance. They come with belly heat, bins and are completely assembled...

Plus I'm sure they'll be at Tinley considering they're in Minnesota...

I would say Herp Enclosures, but they're having a problem right now, so I don't recommend ordering from them at this time. Great racks, they have belly routed flexwatt and hold heat extremely well. The spindle on their CNC router keeps breaking though, so I'm still waiting for some racks I ordered several months ago.

Since that situation isn't working out, I ordered my latest hatchling rack from Jason's Jungle. It's an 18-slot that comes fully assembled with tubs. I was apprehensive about the back heat, but the geckos are doing great in there, so I think it's fine. My temp probe is taped to the bottom of an empty tub so it's getting an accurate reading of the surface temperature in the rear of the tub. It does seem that back heat gives a better front-to-rear heat gradient than belly heat, but the flexwatt does work a little harder. With the Herp Enclosures rack the flexwatt is barely on most of the time though, so it's not like you'll be cooking the flexwatt with back heat.

Also I should mention that Jason Hess is a really great guy. I was in a bind with more baby leos than rack spaces, so I had a few in 5 gal aquariums and several more in sterilite tubs w/ UTH's. It was getting uncool. I called Jason on the Wednesday before Daytona and he sent me a rack via Delta DASH 2 days later. I had the rack on Monday morning.
