Which makes for a better pet Leo, a male or a female? Is one more docile or friendly than the other? Or is there really no real difference in geckos? Just curious:)

From my personal experince as far as sex each one is equal. Just depends on the leo itself. However blizzards of any mix tend to be a little on the fiesty side. That's just me though..

to me there is no differance. I have male and female leopards that will let me pick them up and hold them or just show them off to friends and family lol. They just have to get used to you first.

It really doesn't matter. Both are really friendly imo. I will say that a male may be a better choice for one reason: The female ovulates and lays eggs which leads to not eating during ovulation which tends to make people worry.

Just spend a little time handling any gecko and you will have a very easy going pet in no time.

There is no difference between a male or female, they make equally nice pets. There ARE pro's and con's though...

(+) Singley housed males tend to live a little longer than females do.
(-) You can only house one male together.

(+) Females can be housed together as long as they are about the same size and they have enough space.
(-) Females ovulate and produce eggs (even infertile), and this may shorten their lifespan.

Both are the same. My male tang was fiesty when i first got him, but now he is cool as cash. my new female tremper is now in the skittish phase so i have to break her of that. but the are no different all depends on the gecko.

Well, Im still new to the whole gecko world.

but.. so far i've noticed no difference as far as temperment when it comes to sex (for gecko's that is, my fiance, thats a different story).

It could just boil down to the individual and how comfortable they are with you. Though, as some of the more experienced individuals have mentioned, I have read that certain types may express more aggression than others (ie blizzards) but I have not had enough experience with gecko's to see this myself.

I haven't found any difference in our males and females as far as temperment except for 1 female and she's not like ANY of our other geckos. She is a little demon, LOL.

Thanks for the info, most of my pets are rats, which have temperment differences between the sexes.

If anything, it seems to me that different morphs can be friendlier than others. My two jungle/tang/rainwaters are the most calm.

I am going to vote for MALE.

My males tend to move around a lot more than my females; and most importantly, some female will stop eating when they ovulate, which will be very stressful for the new owner!

I think each gecko is different in regards to temperment and the sex of the gecko you buy should not be a major factor unless you are planning to breed them.
