black lights for geckos?

will it bother them if i use it at night?on there cage its the old kind for decoration

I don't know from experience, but I looked up some info for you and this is what I found from herpcenter.com

"Blacklights

The black lights are not the same bulbs that are used to view black light responsive images. They are simply a black bulb designed for viewing and heating reptiles. Please do not confuse the two. Some documents show that prolonged exposure to "black lights" (image responsive lighting) can have a negative effect on the eyes. We would not want this same problem to occur with our reptiles."

i use the black light heat bulbs on my tanks cuz the red ones annoy me (geckos dont seem to mind) but i wouldnt use the florescent black light bulbs as it can damage our eyes so it probly be worse on theirs.
