Designer Geckos has acquired and entered into a partnership in the new Black Night project.

The Black Night is the culmination of 15 years of work by Holland reptile breeder Ferry Zuurmond, and we were assisted in obtaining these animals by gecko breeder Roy Sluiter. We were able to receive two solid pure black animals, and will obtain more in the future under our agreement.

Some geckos have shown very slight patterning and deep brown areas, while the best are pure jet black, and it's these that we will be developing to continue to refine this exciting new morph.

The best examples are very pure black with dark grey eyes and light grey ventral side. The morph is intelligent and docile with a very good appetite...desirable traits to be sure.

Here is the first picture I've taken of the geckos...more pics to come. You can see they are indeed very black, but this artistic mirror pic does not show the whole animal. Future pics can be seen at our website where we will show the animals in a more naturalistic view.

Anyway, thanks to Ferry and Roy for their hard work on this project. A huge number of reptile breeders tried to negotiate for this BN agreement, and we are happy that Designer Geckos was chosen to be the one to participate. We look forward to providing these to the gecko community in the future. For now, please be patient as it will still take time to expand the colony.

This pic was just for art reasons. We will have real pics soon.

The pure blacks were much more than 2500EU.....yikes! We got the only two pure blacks available. It's an investment in the future. Eventually there will be amazing new combos coming from this project.

Nice, I didn't have the 2500 euro to get one.

I like the natural pictures of them better, yours looks almost not real?

Treefolk, can you please post a naturalistic-lighting pic? I'd really like to see what these beautiful creatures really look like. :)

First picture in the first post is VERY deceiving. I guarantee the gecko doesn't look anything like that. Bad way to announce a project in my personal opinion. If that's the end goal, cool. But don't post photos that don't depict the actual animal. Again, just my opinion. Take a photo with a flash and post it... :)
