my rescue girl finally shed and I noticed that she had some bloody toes as well as a couple where it looks like she might loose the toes yet to come. I have soaked her to help with the toes and was wondering if there was anything I could put on the tips to help them. She is on paper towels. Her warm side is about 95 and cool side is ambient room temperature. the person I took her from said that she had been on cali-sand. I don't know if she was using anything else for humidity or not. I will keep an eye on her toes and watch her with her next shed.

Ouch. That looks painful !

Not sure what you could put on them but I thought I would comment to wish you luck with her !

Yeah she wasn't too happy about me looking at them. I will probably call the vet on Monday and see about getting her an appointment just to make sure they aren't too bad. I also want to check for MBD as she wobbles badly when she walks.

It's good you're taking her in. I had a rescue that did that once. He required assistance with his toes every shed until it was totally healed, which took about 2 months. Some of the measures I took were making sure his paper towels were nearly always damp (not wet), changing them daily (really truly daily) to keep contamination to a minimum.

Yes he screeched when I had to remove shed. It looked like it hurt a lot. But he tolerated it because I think he knew I was trying to help. I know geckos don't understand speech, but I tried to use very quiet reassuring tones while I worked on him.

I wasn't able to save his toes completely, but I was able to save more of them than would have occurred on their own. His toes were so bad that some of them had exposed bone. Eventually little flesh pads grew over what was left.

Here's a picture, he's still kinda wiggly, so it was the best I could get of all four feet:

He and his clutchmate have been with me, His clutchmate had pretty bad MBD and a stubtail.

One really simple thing that can help with shedding problems is giving them their multivitamin with every feeding. Sometimes shed problems are really a symptom of a vitamin deficiency. Mine got extra vitamins and liquid calcium and are making a full recovery.

Good luck with your little one!

she has more than one sheds wort of skin on her toes by the looks of them. you can see that the ends are much much thinner than the rest. some have evn started to go black because blood flow is cut off. too late to save most so she will loose them. for the others you will have to soak in warm water to soften them up to try remove the skin
good luck

Yeah she didn't screech when I removed the shed but she wasn't happy about it. I don't think she was getting any multivitamin or calcium supplement. She has been in her calcium dish almost constantly.

yeah I have no doubt she is going to loose a few more toes. I have been soaking her daily to help soften the skin on her toes.
