Hello everyone, well, I was wondering if a Bold Stripe has the classic Bandit nose-band, is that random? Because I read that unless it is directly from Bandit bloodline(s) that it can't be considered a Bandit, and therefore is random.

Assuming it's not random: if you prove that the single nose-band expresses itself consistently in the offspring, would it be a new phase of Bandit or a new morph/line bred trait ect?

Assuming it is random: can you then still label the babies as "Nose-banded Bold Stripes) or something? obviously with a note to the buyer(s) that it is not genetic or anything of that sort.

This has me very interested.

Yeah, the general consensus is that you shouldn't label them as Bandits unless they're related to Ron Tremper's Bandit line. You could still start seeing a nose-band pattern in your geckos that could be bred for (not random), but they'd just be labeled as Bold Stripes.

If you worked over many years and developed your own line of bold geckos with nose bands, you could name your project. I'm not really certain how the community as a whole would prefer it, but if your geckos have absolutely no relation to the original Bandit line, you probably shouldn't use "Bandit". :) I'll let others chime in with their opinions.

Yeah, I wouldn't call it Bandit or anything similar to that really lol, f I do prove it out in some way that is. But good to know that I'd have to wait a few generations before it could be labeled/sold. Should make for a nice little project xD

Thinking I'll hopefully get a baby that has the nose band, breed it back to the parents, and see what happens :D
