Any suggestions on good crested gecko breeders? I am considering getting a female to pair with my male. Any response is appreciated.
Thank you very much.Your best bet would be to either look on Craigslist.org or you can search upcoming reptile shows/conventions in your area, they usually have some beautiful geckos.
You've helped me with both of my questions! Thank you so much again. LolI agree on the reptile show idea. Looking into who's going to be at the nearby shows will give you an idea of what breeders are in the area. Pricing at reptile shows is also a little better in some cases.
If you're looking for high-end animals and do not mind paying for shipping, of course, you can search on Google and all over the country for what you want.
How much do crested geckos usually cost at these shows? I'm looking for an adult female and backwater reptiles, underground reptiles, and reptile city all sell hatchlings only. :/I agree on the reptile show idea. Considering I paid 200 for the male, that is a huge step up. Lol Thank you.To be honest, I'm not certain what crested geckos usually go for at shows, especially not knowing what breeders would be going to one in your area. In my mind, I'd budget $50-$100 for an adult female, but they can obviously be much more expensive than that, depending upon the breeder and quality.
Thank you! I'm going to the All Ohio Reptile Show or the Cincity Reptile show next month to go look for a female crested gecko and a Gargoyle gecko. I have a 500 dollar budget, so hopefully I'll find something. I'm honestly not looking for high quality geckos. I'm not trying to breed them to sell. I just want more geckos. [emoji38]It's very difficult if not impossible to tell if a crested is 100% female until they're over 20g which is usually a year or so old or more. Because of this, guaranteed females are often more expensive. Low quality may start around $100-150 but they'd need to be paired with an outstanding male. Mid-quality and better females usually bring $250 and up. They can get quite expensive! Any breeder that says they have a 100% female gecko that's under 10 grams in size is crazy. Reliable breeders that guarantee sex between 10-20g may be an okay bet but I'd ask a lot of questions about their guarantee and what it entails (i.e. will you pay return shipping? refund or replacement? etc.). Even 20-25g animals that look like females can develop pores. Once they're over 25g they're almost certainly the gender they appear. Good luck finding one
