Hello everyone,

I have a pair of fat tail geckos, and im having the hardest time getting them to breed. The male shows zero interest in the female. Husbandry is perfect. I dont know what else to do. Suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I had to cool my fat tails to get breeding activity. I cooled them for two months, during which no food is given, simulating a short winter. It may be a little late in the season, but you could try it if you want. Keep them at 70 degrees.

Don't worry, my geckos only lost about 2 grams, so it isn't very hard on them at all.

Good Luck.

If the female isn't ovulating then the male will show no interest. I have 3 female fat tails and only one of them is ovulating right now. She may just need a little more time.

How old are they? And how much do they weigh?

You know the picture you took of the ovulating female? Well, it isn't anywhere close to that, but I can see a little pink spot on my female. I would try to take a picture if I thought there was any chance of me actually being able to get a clear picture of it, but there isn't...LOL

That picture took two people, me to hold the leo and one to take the pic. When I got my first AFT I was looking her over and the thicker scales is the first thing I notices on the belly. I was like how on earth am I going to be able to see if she's ovulating? I'm glad it's not a guessing game, at that I'll be able to see something going on in the tummy. Thanks for the info Jeanne. I guess once I start breeding my 1.2 I'll see if I can get a nice clean pic.
