Breeding & Fighting !?

I have a ovulating Bell Albino 66g and I decided to put my male TUG Sunglow 69g in with her to see what would happen.

Things looked smooth at first. He rattled his tail went up to her and nipped her leg, back then neck and she just accepted it. I never really saw the tails connect for more then a few seconds even though she was raising hers & he was trying to swing under her.

Then she started moving away and he would raise up on all four and bite her tail, which made me anxious, and then work his way back up to her neck and at this point she would turn & bite him back and move away.

He chased her several more times but it looked more like they were two males squaring off for the fight of the century then a mating call ?

Once I saw she was not really accepting his advances I put him back in his box.

So should I try them again later or once a female rebuffsa a male is it over?

Thanks,
Michael

Hey, this is slightly irrelevant, but aren't Sunglows a Tremper strain of albino? If not, then no worries, but if they are.. it just muddies up the gene pool if you breed different strains of albinos together :( There is no point in doing it, you'll get normals that are het for both.

Female sounds like she's not ready, though

Sunglows can be made with any albino strain, so as long as he is a Bell Sunglow it's all good.

True... but I think it is a Tremper... I am not 100 % sure and Kasey gave me the slap I needed and I had to go re-read the "Muddy Waters" sticky.

I will not try to pair these two again but I am still curious if it was a mating reject?

SO much to learn........

It does sound like a rejected attempt.

And I'm used to Bell Albinos being called "Hybinos" so I wasn't sure.. There are soo many different names it gets confusing.

Good luck with future breeding! Just make sure to keep your albino strains apart ;).

yeah usually i call a bell sunglow a hybino, and a tremper sunglow a sunglow.
