I am starting to breed my meal worms, and I am curious as to know what is the best supplies I can use to ensure they are healthy and of excellent nutritional value to my four year old leopard gecko?
Thank you in advance!

I use oatmeal as the substrate, and then they need to eat and they also get moisture from the food so just drop a baby carrot or 5 in with the oatmeal, and they need to be in temps from about 82°-85°. And buy large mealworms, and its best to buy them online, like on rainbow worms or Miami worms because they come in bulk and are more likely to pupate. And buy at least 500+ to get started. Best of luck!! :)

You can use whole oats (not flavored oatmeal), wheat bran, a homemade bedding (if you're interested in that, someone posted their recipe recently, and i'll try to find it...), or a commercial gutload that is ultra nutritious for your geckos (such as the MS2 enterpises gutload, which you can find in the links at the top of the page). You also need a sourcce of nutritional moisture. Don't soely feed of vegetaable or you will be limiting their nutrition intake. Carrots, kale, sweet potato, and dark greens are very good for your geckos :)

This is a link to a gut-loading info page that Indyana has been spreading :) Figured it would work well here! ---->Much Ado About Chameleons: The Anatomy of Gut-Loading | Ingredients & Nutritional Info

Just make sure to remember that the quality of what goes into your worms, is the quality of food that your gecko will be recieving! :D

What do I put the Darkling Beetles on? Would an egg crate be okay? Would grapes be good to use as a source of food for both beetles and worms?

The beetles go under and lay their eggs in dirt, so you need something like the wheat bran or even dirt.

I keep the darkling beetles the same exact way that I keep the mealworms (on rolled oats). And grapes can cause liver failure in a lot of animals, so I don't think thats a good idea to risk it... Try baby carrots or apples even. This link has tons of nutritious food that you can gut-load with---->Much Ado About Chameleons: The Anatomy of Gut-Loading | Ingredients & Nutritional Info

as a side note, I wouldnt use dirt as a substrate for them because they will eat it. And then you will literally be feeding your gecko dirt, lol :D

Oats are what I use too! Cheap, easy, and smell really nice! :D

And please ask us if you have any more questions! Breeding the mealworms are so worth it in the end!
