Breeding Possibilites?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and just introduced myself up above. I'd like to hear what some of you might suggest for my future breedings with these critters. In the past I bred normals and high-yellows. Feel free to suggest other morphs that I do not have that may be suitable matches - I will likely be adding a few more to my collection anyway. :)

Bold Striped Tremper Albino 0.1
Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot-Tail 0.2
Extreme Tangerine Carrot-Tail 1.0
Mack Snow Enigma 1.1
Bell Sunglow Enigma 0.1
Bold Bandit 1.0

These are my suggestions:

1) Breed the extreme tangerine carrot-Tail male to your super hypo tangerine carrot-tail females. You should get some very nice super hypo tangerine carrot tails from that cross.

2) Breed the extreme tangerine carrot-Tail to the Bell sunglow enigma female. All the offspring would probably have a very nice tangerine coloration and hypo influence, and 50% of them would be enigmas. All would be het Bell. If you want to get some Bells in the first generation, you need one Bell or het Bell male. You shouldn't breed it to your Tremper albino. Even if they are both albinos, they are different strains and the offspring would be all normal het Tremper and Bell, and this isn't approved by the majority of breeders as it would make telling the strains apart more difficult in the future.

3) Breed the Tremper albino to the bandit. As both seem to have a very bold pattern, the offspring will probably too, they would be mostly jungles and stripes. All would be het Tremper albino. Again, if you want to get some albinos in the first generation, you need one Tremper albino or het Tremper male.

4) Only the Mack snow enigma pair is left... You could breed one to another. It's not clear what would you get genetically speaking from breeding enigma x enigma. I'm not talking about the theories that exist because I've been bashed enough for it, if you are interested you can look through my messages in the Morphs & Genetics forum. But I can tell you that you could get normals, enigmas, mack snows, mack snow enigmas, super snows and super snow enigmas (dalmations). There are some rumours around about the enigma x enigma breedings producing more enigmas with issues than enigma x non-enigma breedings. Honestly, I think it's more because of inbreeding (an therefore weaker animals) than because of the morph itself.

If you are worried about it, there are still some other pairings you can do. For example, breed the female to the bandit male. You would get 25% normals, 25% macks, 25% enigmas and 25% enigma macks. Because of the father, they could have some bold, junglish pattern too. Personally I feel there are few morphs more beautiful than bold patterned Macks.

About the male... Well, I don't think he would produce anything too interesting with any of your females but the Mack snow enigma. If you don't want to breed them together, I would buy a pretty super snow female. That would give you 25% Macks, 25% enigma macks, 25% super snows and 25% super snow enigmas.

I hope that helped :)

Hi Sandra.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I appreciate it a great deal. These pairings you suggested ought to produce some nice offspring. I definitely will outcross the two Mack Snow Enigmas and will likely pair the male with a Super Snow female.

Thanks Again for your detailed response,
Endymion
