I tried several homemade options, and they are extremely hard to maintain steady temperatures. I suggest investing in a Hovabator. I love mine. I purchased it from LLLReptiles for under $50. Totally worth it!

I use a hovabator as well- Very cheap and extremely reliable. Just be sure to set it up and get the temp stable before you get eggs. There is a thermostat, but it doesn't allow you to set a target temp so it can take a few days to get the temp correct and stable.

Make sure to pick up some laying medium as well such as vermiculite and some deli cups.

I was planning on buying a LLL Reptile Special, It comes with " Hatchrite/5 Deli Cups and a 1-602N Hovabator. I wanted to make sure i get a Model that one of you guys use to ensure Success and Postive feed back :)

Yes, I got the 1-602N. Love it. It holds a stable temp really well, and has plenty of room. I use vermiculite and plastic containers too. If you go for vermiculite or peralite, but sure it has nothing added to it, like plant food.

Thats what I got, worth the money. You might want to make the Hatch-Rite a little more moist for leopard geckos.

I'll take your word for it, I just checked to see what the exact difference was with Hatchrite.
1. No Dusty Mess.
2. Soil and Plant food are Already Removed.
3. Holds Moisture well and does not drown the Egg.
4. Keeps the egg in Steady Position.
5. Easy to throw away.

Remember only add a tiny, tiny bit of water though. Don't want to make it too moist, either!

I like vermiculite. You add water until it starts to pool at the bottom, then pour off the excess. Make a little slot for the eggs, and you're ready to go! Its cheaper too.

Awesome! Shouldnt you leave a Hole for air just in case one of the Geckos Hatch? Wouldnt want them to well Suffocate.

Generally you keep the hatching container sealed during incubation. Air holes tend to make it very difficult to maintain the proper humidity.

I usually open the containers briefly once a week to exchange the air. I also leave the lid slightly ajar when I suspect that the eggs are about to hatch, but as long as you are checking the incubator daily it shouldn't be a problem.

Exactly right! But its hard not to mess with your eggs!! I try to only check once or twice a week, but its hard not to keep opening containers, candling and just looking at them. I read a neat article that suggested breeders should keep alot of records, so they could fuss over their data and not their eggs!!
