I really want to breed some of the whiptails we've got down here, as they are very pretty and seem like they'd make great pets, but I can't find any information on it.

Could anybody help me out?

Sol,

The few considerations that I can think of are you will need a lot of cage space. You will need a relatively "hot" basking spot, UV lights would be a must and lots of food. They are very active and have a high metabolism and will need a lot of food. It would probably be a good idea to have multiple basking sites and a good number of hides for them as well. I would also plan on spraying them at least 3 times per week with some sort of mister as well as offering them a water bowl.

Those are just some of my thoughts off the top of my head.

Thanks for the ideas Stephen!

One of the things I was thinking of, was having an outdoor facility for them, just a large fenced in area with a bunch of rocks and maybe some nest boxes. This being their natural environment, it seems like that would be the easiest way to go about it. I was just wondering if anybody had any experience breeding before and could give me some hints on making them thrive and whatnot.

Thanks,
Sol
