Broken Leg! (Need Help)

A few days ago one of my baby leopard geckos received a broken leg due to a rack accident. It is her back left leg. I've heard that there is not much you can do. She is eating fine and can get around. Her leg wobbles when she walks though, but its not like it is hanging limp. How long do they usually take to heal and is there anything I can do to help?

I think people usually suggest giving your leo D3 to help it heal. Im not sure how long it takes to get better. Im sure someone with more advice will come along tho. Good Luck with it.

ditto just for reassurance - as long as there is plenty of calcium it should be fine :)

They really do heal on their own and are AMAZING little healers

Same thing happened to us in the middle of last month. Long story of how the poor thing broke it's leg, but it was the same day it hatched and everything. It was the front left leg and the little one was literally dragging the leg behind him as he walked, so that sounds worse than what yours does now. Anyway, within one day he had figured out how to lift his leg up properly and was walking a little bit. He still slipped every so often. Within a week, he was no longer slipping at all and seemed to be walking just fine. He is now nearly three weeks old and is completely healed, no limping anymore or anything. He had some shed problems on that leg, though, so watch for that and you can PM me if you need help.. He tends to just lift his leg up in the air and keep it like that sometimes (it seems to be a habit that he developed and didn't let go of after healing).. I think he will always do this for his entire life. We have planned to never breed him, never sell him, and always house him by himself (we don't know what sex it is yet, I just say "he" out of habit). I just don't want any complications for the little guy later down the road, and want to ensure he has a happy life, so those were the choices we made.

I didn't take any pics of the broken leg when it was bad because I was so horrified. Here is him once he figured out how to position his leg correctly:

And here is a pic that was taken very recently, with him holding his leg in the air, and then another pic with him just layin on my hand ;)

So all in all, yours should heal just fine, and the calcium will help aid him ;) Keep us updated!
