I recently got a Mack Snow from a breeder but he hasn't ate anything yet. I know it usually takes some time but the other gecko I got with him is eating and I'm not sure if the Mack is just getting used to things or if he is getting a little chilly like some of the other geckos...

I got him Oct 1st. He has plenty of hides in his tub, food is always available, and he is warm. All the conditions are fine besides the lower air temp in the mornings.

He was quite crazy when we got him; he was still a screamer (even at about 5 months and 29g) and would snip at me when I tried to handle him. He has sort of calmed down, he will let me pick him up if I'm slow but still darts to his tub if I hold him close enough to it.

He has dropped down to 27g last time I weighed him.

I've tried almost everything; Dubias, Mealworms, Superworms, Crickets, and WaxWorms. I'll try ordering some Horn Worms but I'm worried that won't work.

Am I still in the time frame of things being normal or what...?

i found a method that seems to work for me with geckos who arent eating, what i do is take everything out of their tub even the paper towel i then leave dubias or whatever else i feed in the tub with them for a hour or so when i check back on them i usually find that they have ate.. try that

how long are you leaving food items in the tank? I found that my geckos wouldn't touch their mealworms right away, so I'd leave them overnight and some would be eaten. Also, I noticed that they ate better if I didn't touch them at all for 2 or 3 days, because they were still scared. When I picked them up from the breeder, I asked them what they were feeding on, and made sure to feed only what they're used to.

My suggestion? Don't handle him for 2 - 3 days (hard, I know!), but keep going about your normal cleaning and feeding, try putting 10ish mealworms in the dish for overnight, and count how many are gone in the morning. They're nocturnal, so hunting at night makes a lot of sense. don't worry if he doesn't eat much the first night, he might eat the second night after not getting handled for a day or two :)

Is his tail still plump and squishy looking?

I've had him for 3 weeks now; I dont handle him often and his food is in there 24/7. His tail looks fine; I'll take another look when I get home and compare it to a picture of him when I first got him.

He ate tonight! I was getting some nymphs out for the other geckos and decided to drop a few in his tub. I heard a strike and looked up to see him munching. Praise the Lord!
