Greetings. I am posting this for my 10-year old daughter. This is her gecko Buddy which we got on the 20th of March. Today is April 30th and in that time Buddy has eaten a total of 2 horn worms and 1 mealworm. I have read that they can fast for a while but just wondering if he is unhealthy looking or not. His tail seems to be fat but not quite as fat as when we got him. Previous owner fed him superworms and we tried to feed him those but he doesn't seem interested at all. Here's a pic and maybe some of you can tell us if he looks ok.........

He looks ok to me. Super cute! Does he still seem alert/active and pooping ok when he does eat? I know my girl Ozy hasn't been eating much at all, but she's still plump and just as sassy as ever. :p

Thanks for the reply. Yes, still seems alert and likes to crawl around on my daughters arm. Defacating normally I guess. Just was expecting him to eat more than three worms in 6 weeks! He is getting blotchy in areas, I am assuming the skin is coming off. Maybe another reason for the fasting. Thanks again for the response and I will let my daughter know since she's worried.

He looks healthy to me as well! Prior to shedding, geckos can draw back on food. They usually eat their shed, which is rich in vitamins/nutritients, so I would not worry too much :) Also, geckos can cut back on food when they settle in in their new home. If this goes on for a longer time and his tail continues to get thinner, you can fill out the health questionnare in the Health and Medications section. Maybee its a good idea to fill it out now, so that you can make sure that you have got the right tank setup :)

But, still he looks healthy and really pretty, supercute :) He looks just like my normal male!
