Building a tank

I plan on building a tank for some tokays. I can not afford a tank as big as I would like.
I would build it with about 2x2x6 or so feet tall.
Now the part where you all come in =]
I figure I will use some nice wood and a plexi glass front, with a screen top.
Now how do I waterproof the wood in a way that it will be safe for geckos.
Is there a sealant I could use or should I just glue some thick plastic sheeting around it? As far as the looks of it I'm not to concerned just as long as it functions.

I know this is not the most detailed plans, just trying to get a feel for things.
Anything I left out or need to know please feel free!

Gregg did a thread on building varanid cages with pics and overall cost. You could pretty much use the overall design just on a small scale.

Obviously you don't need to use a window being that you will be wanting to do a smaller enclosure than this but the overall design and info is good. Basically it's what i would if i wanted to build an enclosure.

Thanks a lot for the link the window is a great idea for doors.
BTW my plans are for a slightly larger cage 2'x2'x6'ft
