building rack... heating question

should i use heat tape or cable? ive heard tape needs a thermostat but also it can hook up to a dimmer switch also wouldnt heat cable give like barely any heat?

I use heat tape personally. Its cheap, easy to install, easy to regulate the temps, and is nice and flat under the tubs of a rack. Cant beat it IMO.

Both heat tape AND heat cable require a thermostat

A rheostat (dimmer) works well with heat tape, Ive used them for years without a problem. A thermostat will let you be more precise but its not 100% necessary. But it does require one or the other. You use it without some way of regulating the temperature. Heat cable I dont have any experience with so I cant say one way or the other.
