Well no one else has posted any pics (I'm thinking a lot of you guys have rack systems), so I decided to post mine, they aren't anything special, and next week I'll actually be getting two new tanks to upgrade two of my geckos.

Here is my gem's temporary housing, he/she is small, so this cage works well.

And here's the gem, again...I just love this thing :main_thumbsup: !

My SHTCTB's tank (she's well, a she!)

And here she is shedding, she's pushed her humid hide all over the place rubbing of her shed.

And this is Jiggy's tank, sorry that it's a little dirty

And that's it! I just can't wait to update Jiggy to a 20 long and the gem is going to be in half of another 20 long, while the other half will house my next gecko. Which I can't wait to get!!

Hope you enjoyed!

How are those halved 20's working for you and how you set them up especially with the UTH? There is a guy in Sacromento(45 minutes-60 minutes from me) that is selling thoses and I was thinking of getting 1 or 2 of them besides having a rack.

I haven't gotten them yet. I ordered them yesterday and hope to get them next week. They are actually 20 longs that are only 6 inches high, rather than the normal 10 or 12 or whatever it is. I figure that one of these divided into two will work fine, at least while my leos are small, but even when they grow it will be about the equivalent of two 15 gallons.

Anyway, I'll post a picture of them once I get them and have them set up with the leos in them. I just don't have anything to use as a divider for the tank. Do you have any ideas for that? Can I purchase acrylic and have it cut to fit?

There is a guy that sells halfed 20L's now. I have not seen them yet but I might this weekend because I am in need of some supplies. I am sure alittle acrylic and some aquarium sealant will work just as good;)

glasscages.com sells 1/2 29g tanks they are the same foot print(30x12.5) as a 20L but are only 6" tall i think those would be good for those that dont want to use a rack b/c they like to see their leo better.

I was thinking of a halved 20L just to keep a couple males in a seperate tank untill I get a rack built. Even when I get a rack built I will still be using tanks to keep some of them in. I have some that are just pets and thats all they will ever be.

Here you go. The first cage is for my oldest gecko, this one I just put together the other day. Don't worry there is another water dish in the bottom I just had it out. The second cage is for my new little one.

I agree that sand is a bad idea. If you are going to use it I would only use it for an adult, but even then it's too risky (in my opinion), it can cause impaction if they ingest it. And since you said that the new tank was for a little one, I'm assuming it's a baby or juvenile and should be kept on paper towels, tile, or repti carpet. And that new tank also looks like it could maybe use another hide (a humid hide, if that isn't what the one in there is).

I used to use the carpet but for some reason my gecko's mouth (when going for crickets) and toes (occasionally) kept getting stuck on it, so I switched. It's still not good even if it extremely fine sand? :main_huh:

Well from what I've learned from the others on this site, if you are going to use sand you want to use I think it was play sand because it is really fine. I could be wrong on that, but I think that's it. Some people do use sand for the most natural look, but I just think that it's a bad idea, most definitely for a young leo. When they eat crickets they may ingest some of the sand in the process, and although the occassional ingest may pass through their system, it's still dangerous. I know what you mean by the carpet, I use it for one of my leos, and he has been on it his whole life with no real problem. When he was young his toes would get caught a little, but now there is no problem.

I know you are probably going for the natural look, but maybe while your leo is young you can use paper towels, or do like others do and use tile.

You may want to also do a search on the forum about using sand as a substrate. But I know that if you asked, most anyone on this forum would recommend you don't use sand. It's just a thought though, switching to a more suitable substrate would be best. But then again there are others out there that have used sand with their leos for their entire leos lives and never had a problem, it's just personal preference I guess.

Hope I helped a little bit :) !

It is the Play sand. So you remembered correctly Kristen :) I used paper towels untill they were older then switched to carpet. I personally will not use sand with leopards. I had 1 case of sand impactation and that will be the last.
