So I know they need both but I've read conflicting care sheets about how you need to dust your mealies yet others say just leave a calcium dish out and they will eat it...one care sheet says they need a multivitamin others say if you gutload on good things like oats and raw veggies then they don't need vitamins...can someone please set me straight. I have always used repcal calcium and heptivite vitamins in the past....are these good choices?

I dust my mealies with calcium with D3 (they are fed mealies every other day) but I dont dust my Pheonix Worms because they have calcium in them (they get those every other day.) I do gutload my mealworms which gives them vitamins too. I also leave a small dish of calcium in the cage.

Calcium in a dish inside the tank at all time, just leave it in there, they'll lick it.

Dust with multi vitamins every serving for younger geckos, as they do all their growing during the first year. Just use the shake & bake method for that, works great.

Keeping calcium in a dish is no guarantee the gecko will be using it, although if meal worms are fed in the bowl it should be enough. As far as vitamins, they should be added about once a week if the feeders are gut-loaded well. Still, dusting food items just before feeding the geckos will ensure they are getting supplemented.

Unfortunately for you and me for that matter. The answer to that question doesnt exist. It is a highly debated topic on all reptile forums. The best thing to do in my humble opinion is see what works easiest for you. I personally have calcium in a small dish at all times and dust with calcium wD3 and multivitamin alternitivly at every feeding. Is this right?? Who knows but it seems to work for me. JMO

heh..

kevin i'm using repashy supercal plus icb and dust every feeding. it contains all the calcium and d3 mixed together. i do however leave a mixture of calcium and vionate in with my ovulating and laying females, but like marcia stated, there is no guarantee they are going to ingest it. most people dust with calcium every feeding, and supplement with vitamins every few feedings.
