Calcium with or without d3

Everyone says leave some pure calcium in the cage. Why cant it be the calcium with d3?

I believe that it is just because they should not have too much D3.

If you are having a problem finding straight calcium-get 2 plain cuttle bones(for birds) and scrape them together and you have a very fine pure calcium dust for your insects
I have been using this for years now for straight calcium for my geckos and all of my other herps
