Hi all

I have a question, do you think a gecko can sense another leo nearby without seeing it ?

Reason I am asking is because I have a male who is not eating and he seems to have not lost much weight. His tank is placed close to another tank which houses my female leo.

Would this be kinda of a distraction for him not to eat ?

Heat and the rest of the requirements are met.

Cheers

Yes, male and female leopard geckos give off pheromones that can be smelled and sensed by other geckos. If the femlae is ovulating, it could be a problem for the male's appetite. Also, keep in mind that this time of year is a natural slow-down for many geckos.

Its funny cause I have the same problem.. not eating when there are females near by who are gravid!!! LOL

But my male gets all antsy after I hold the ladies than pick him up.. I think he smells them on me.

I'd say most definitely. Our male is in a room with 3 females (separate tanks). He looks like he's striking a pose on the beach. Plus I swear he's packed on some weight...ahhh...muscle, yeah it's muscle ;) , since the 2 new females have joined our happy home.

Yea I think that too. My male smells my females in the middle of the night and he waggs his tail like a rattle snake and beats it on the tank.

Hi folks

Thanks for the feedback, is there a potential "safe" distance, that I got to keep them from ?

This is because I dont have much space in my home to move my tanks around.

FYI, Have moved the tank 2 meters apart.

Cheers
