Hello! i am building a custom terrarium and am wondering if I use a two inch deep pool will the gecko be at risk of drowning?

Excess humidity levels can lead to respritory infections in the animals. Best to just stick with a water dish and moist hide.

Could make a nice decorative (and functional, remember...need to change the substrate or papertowels used to avoid molding) moist hide!

I don't think so, they are from grassy rocky areas, and generally those don't have an overabundance of water.

Furthermore, leos don't really seem designed with swimming in mind; they store most of their fat in the tail (from my understanding, I could be wrong). Since fat floats this would mean that in the water the gecko would be lifted up by it's tail forcing it's head under water (good for drowning, less so for swimming).

They are capable of holding themselves up for short periods of time in the water. I don't know that I'd say they are good at swimming per se.
