OK I'm having some problems getting this dumb mix right. I just got the book on The herpetoculture Of Leopard Geckos . The book is telling me 6 part med. to 4 parts water. Well what the hell sorry is that in grams. I tried to do a mix last night but i dont think i got it right. Then i was told to mix 1 part med.
to .8 water. What is the right mix damn it...lol ha ha. I cant get it right i have tried and tried and tried some more. How do i make this mix right. The one i did last night was(weight with cup and perlite was grams) so if its. grams in perlite i would take 39x .4 if its 4 part water?? and get a total weight with perlite and water is 54.6 for the right mix am i not right. And if its 1 part med to .8 water that weight would be (39 x .8 = 31.2) then (31.2 + 39 = 70.2 total weight with water) Am i also not right there. Then the book also says to only full it 1.5"- 2" in thickness. So i did that and got 39 grams with perlite. I have no idea what is going on with these mixes. I also follow albey's thing she has step but step but using a small container.? Can someone please help me out with the problem because i have tried and tried and tried again and then somemore i have lost a hole qt bag because of this mix. Also i have some mist what looks to be like on the top of the lids i try to wipe it off because I'm scared that water will drip on to the eggs. I got 5 that are all good but because i cant get this mix right that are dieing one but one not fast but slow i get to 20-25 days and they just stop or something. I know i said alot there sorry but i have to get this mix right if i want to hatch anything this season. Thank You For Your Time. It is gladly appreciated and the geckos will love you all to. Thanks again (JoHn) :main_thumbsup:

Do what I do.... buy Hatchrite and be done with it. No mixing, measuring, etc. Just pour and use!!!

And if its 1 part med to .8 water that weight would be (39 x .8 = 31.2) then (31.2 + 39 = 70.2 total weight with water).
This is correct. The easiest way I have found to do this is by weighing individual containers, because each of my females have their own. For example, I put the container on the scale and zero it out. I add vermiculite intil the scale reads 2 grams, then spray it with water until it reads 3.6 grams (2 grams medium + 1.6 grams water, or 1:0.8 ratio).

Another thing I do is, I put in the Perlite and add some water. mix it around, press out all excess water and that seems to work for me. Now It may not be thecorrect way to do things but since itworks for me and the eggs do not rot or shrivel up. I have only had mold on a crested egg that was in the cage for two months before I found it. Good Luck, Deb
