My boyfriend and I are trying to figure out exactly what a hypo is and how to make it. We know that hypo has something to do with the spotting or lack of I should say. I think that Super Hypo means no spots, but I am not sure. He says that it is not a gene, but more of a line bred thing or random occurance. I think that it is gene, but I don't know if it is dom, co-dom or recessive. I have two females, one sold to me as a HTCT and the other a SHTCT, but they look exactly the same to me. What do you all think?
I plan on breeding them to my Mack Snow to get a start on creamcicles. If I breed him (Mack Snow) to my bell hybino, would that also lead to creamcicles?

I have wondered the same thing. I have noticed that each breeders site that i have been to has a little mixture of everything. i have seen many geckos with very little spotting on it called SH and some that have alot of spotting called SH. i don't know if spotting on the tail is what people consider how they label or if it's just body.

i do know that if there is no spotting on the head it is considered a baldy.

A hypo is a line bred trait therefore peoples perspective to what a nice hypo and such is different. So a SHT, SHTCT, SH can all vary depending on who you talk too. In my opinion I would call yours (both) SHTB(super hypo tangerine Baldies, no head spots).

And yes If you breed the Mack snow to the Bell hybino you would still end up with a creamecicle het bell( if the hypo gene is strong enough).
Results will vary.

A "baldy" is a gecko without head spots.
Simply if a breeder wanted to call those geckos a Hypo tang(HT) it would be alright because most people can tell its a Super hypo or a Baldy. If your gecko had more of a carrot tail then it would be SHTCTB.
Hope this helped :)

Does the hypo or super hypo have a duller color or can you have a bright hypo? Is it simply the amount of spotting? I am still not sure what the difference between a hypo and a super hypo is.
What about this girl? She was sold to me as just a tangerine.

I had a feeling she might be more than just a tang.
But what is the difference between a hypo and a super hypo???

Thats a Super Hypo Tangerine, my definition of a Super Hypo is a gecko lacking all spots. Tangerine is simply a Line-Bred color trait.

Okay so a Super Hypo is lacking all spots. What then is a hypo... just a few spots? And does hypo only pertain to Tangerine? Can another type of gecko be a hypo? Like a high yellow leopard gecko, would that technically be a hypo normal since it is lacking spots?
