Can someone help me identify my two leos (I'm new!)

Hi! I'm new here...this is only my second post! I know how to care for leos and everything, but I'm very new to understanding and identifying morphs! I do not know the parents, but I thiiiink I have pretty common ones...so maybe you guys can help? :)

First is Jude, my male who's about 6 or 7 months old now. He's very yellowy with a lot of orange on his tail...so I guess some sort of carrot tail? He still has faint stripes so I assume since he's not at least 8 months old he still has some growing to do.

Jude's growing up!.jpg

And this is the new baby I just got yesterday, who I am housing separately of course :). I always see this coloring on Leos in pet shops, but I don't know the name of the morph. I'm hoping maybe she'll have different coloring as an adult than Jude so I have some variety, but it's not all that important...I'm just very curious! If you guys can give me any answers on what morph she may be? And maybe share a picture of what she may look like as an adult whether it be your leo or one off Google images?? I can google it myself with just a morph name but you know how Google is, it doesn't always show the proper subject you type into a search, so if someone can share a photo in addition to identification that'd be awesome! I may breed these two when she's fully grown unless it's inadvisable for these two for some reason (I will do loads of research before deciding!). Any help with identification for now though, would be great :).

The male is a SHTCT (super hypo tang carrot tail). The baby looks hypo but you'd need to wait for the adult colours to set to be sure.
Do you know what morphs the parents of the baby were?

Thanks! So will he most likely turn fully orange then? Like this? (grabbed this off google images...).

I do not know who the parents were....I stupidly keep forgetting to ask these things when buying my lizards, lol.

Is this what you mean by "hypo" ? The shop I got her from had mostly these colors for their adults...so maybe they were the parents! (another google image)

The theory is that each new generation of tangerine gets better and brighter. I'm proving that with my sunglow line at the moment. There no guarantee that yours will have that much of an orange tang but you should be able to see some :)

No, that second picture looks like a normal. Hypo reduces the black pigmentation in the skin so what you end up with is a very yellow looking gecko. Super hypo is almost no black pigmentation :)

This is one of my hypos, you can see the reduced black on her :)

Oh okay cool! Thank you for explaining, I really appreciate it :). They are very sweet lizards, and yours is adorable! I guess I'll just have to wait and see what she is for sure when she grows up, lol. Also, I have another question if you don't mind...since you seem to know your stuff! Is it normal for them to be really inactive lizards? Jude is hiding in his cave or shed box 99% of the time, and his skin looks/feels dry a lot. Is there potentially something wrong? or anything I can/should do for him? He's in a 10 gallon tank with a heat pad on one side, and has hides on each side. I have his moist shed box on top of the warm part of the tank and I keep it misted. I have been dusting his gut loaded crickets with repashy calcium plus at just about every feeding too because I never catch him licking it up out of the small lid I have in his tank. His little hands also shake when he takes steps..so I'm wondering if he's a bit overweight.

They are nocturnal keep in mind so they mostly will come out at night, I have one that won't come out till like 2am and when the room is mostly dark. They also have personalities too, some are friendly, some are shy so that may be a contributor as well. As for the health, as long as all the temps are good and he is still eating, going the bathroom and all that general stuff, he should be doing just fine. Not too sure about the shaking part though, I am not as experienced and don't want to feed you any false info here, maybe if you think it's something serious open a thread in the health section. :main_yes: Cute geckos though! It'd be interesting to see the baby grow and find out what it becomes. As for the SHTCT, I have one, but baldy, and it's not that orange, it is more yellowish as Marcia stated.

Angela, do you also have a small dish of pure calcium (no D3) in the cage at all times? If you do not, I would strongly suggest adding it. Repashy Calcium Plus is a great supplement, but I've heard a few people mention having calcium deficiency issues when using it with young geckos.

I ask because the shaking feet can be a sign of calcium deficiency. It can also be a sign of D3 overdose, but if you are only dusting with Repashy Calcium Plus, I don't think that is likely.

Finally, I would check the floor temps, preferably with a temp gun (digital infrared thermometer) and make certain the warm side floor is around 90 F. If he's not warm enough, he would also have a tendency to hang out on the warm side all the time.

They both look good though. I agree that Jude is a Super Hypo Tangerine Carrot Tail.

The little female looks like she may be a Super Hypo Baldy (meaning she may lose all her head/body spots as she grows up). She may also be a low-grade Tangerine if she turns out more orange than yellow.

Thank you guys! All I have is the repashy calcium Plus....so I guess I'll get him some regular calcium for his dish, maybe he doesn't like licking up the vitamins mixed with it, and if he is I see how that could be bad. Can you guys suggest the best brand for straight calcium?

As for temps...he's on the cool side of the tank mostly, but I just checked and the heat pad somehow got unplugged! >_<; Thankfully it's mostly been warm in here, but not sure how long it's been unplugged! It's plugged back in and I'll keep an eye on it so it doesn't happen again. Thanks for all the help guys :)! I'll post photos as the baby grows, and I'll make sure she has some normal calcium too.

For calcium, just stick with one of the well-known companies (Rep-Cal, ZooMed, Exo Terra) and look for the calcium that is Phosphorus free and has no D3. Now that the heat pad is plugged back in, just keep an eye on it and make certain if keeps the floor surface around 90 F. :)

I can't wait to see how the baby develops. :) Also, I would be interesting in knowing if Jude's shaking feet start to get better after a few months of having access to extra calcium.
