Can someone walk me through building an incubator?

Because I'm a little thick sometimes. I have one gravid female and another who should be soon, and I have the things I need to make one (I think), but am having some trouble with the construction. I've read of a type that can be made with an aquarium, 2 bricks, aquarium heater et all. Does anyone have a better setup they can suggest? Thanks for any help.

I recommend just buying a standard hova-bator. Probably the cheapest way to go. Costs under $50.

But if you really want to make one, I suggest making one out of a fridge / mini-fridge- It's relatively cheap and easy to make, but it's bigger than you'll need.

Look at this old picture of mine :

A foam box, a thermostat, some heattape and a thermometer and VOILÁ - incubator

No bricks, water or aqariums - cheep and works like a charm

I don't know why I hadn't thought of that. Sounds like a big hova-bator haha. Do you have a circulating element? Also, I like the luxury of looking through a window (like on my 'winefridgeabator')- even though I usually open it anyways... lol :main_rolleyes:

Thanks for all of the advice all- Malibu Barbie, how did you retain mositure in that setup? It looks really easy, was just curious about how to get the proper humidity in that setup. Thanks.

There is no need for circulation - i open the lids of the deli-cups once a week.

I have seen my version with a window - the foam is easy to work with - almost anything is possible if you are a little handy
