Ok, so the local petstore (horrible place, but has a wide selection of feeders) has just stocked an African Fat-Tailed Gecko and I'm considering putting down the cash to save him from an otherwise grim fate..

So what are the major differences between the care of AFTs and the care of Leos? From what I've read, things seem almost exactly the same..

Please fill me in!

He/she's $50, I didn't actually see them as they were in the hide but.. I'm assuming it's just a normal. The price isn't a problem, I'd be saving them from ill care anyway.

they need more humidity so i would use bed a beast for the subtrate and the same temps and what not

Just as Tanner stated, the biggest difference is fat tails need higher humidity. other than that, more of a jungle-ish setup would look more natural.

Just as an update.. Picking him up tomorrow. I checked him out yesterday, not in bad shape, has a regrown tail.

Now, let me make sure I understand correctly..

I'm going to bed him on spagum peat moss that I'll wet, pack down, and allow to dry. I'll keep a moist hide in his enclosure and a dry one. He eats the same things as leos so I'll be offering superworms.. Should I offer calcium as well? How about a water dish?

Should I be misting the entire enclosure, part of it, or just leave that to the humid hide?
