I collected Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) tadpoles - here in Michigan - from wetlands three times, using water from the wetland where I collected them, putting them in containers containers that lunch meats are commonly sold in around here (a little like tubs soft margarine are sold in). I understand that temperature changes can cause problems for such tiny tads. The last time I collected, I don't think the temp change was all that extreme.
Any ideas what is causing death? Oxygen depletion? Seems unlikely in the last case since the tads were so VERY small.
