Carpet?

I don't use carpet because when I did use it, the geckos teeth got stuck on it and she had to yank her jaw off of it. Also, when you clean the carpet, you have to use bleach and you take a chance of leaving bleach residue in the fibers of the carpet. Bacteria can also stay in the fibers of the carpet, so part of it isn't really getting that clean. What I want to know is:

1) Do you use carpet? If so, what are your reasons?

2) If you don't, what are your reasons?

I'm not going to ridicule you guys or anything, I am just curious about your opinions. :D

i think its too much work to use carpet, i just use paper towels and throw them away. makes it much faster to clean up tubs.

I use tan colored reptile teranium liners from Zilla. When I wash them, I hand wash in a capfull of liquid detergent and rinse 2-3 times with plain water. I don't use it for just born hatchling. When they are around 20 grams I more them to a tank with the carpet.

I think it looks nicer in the tanks and gives it a more natural look.

I am now using brown "packing" paper (the paper you wrap your postal boxes with) for my 20G tank. It is 30" long on a roll & I cut it to size. I use non-colored construction paper for my tubs in my rack (I homeschool, so I have LOTS of construction paper!).

I used to use, reptile carpet. I didn't have the problems that you had with it. I just don't use it anymore, because crickets, and mealworms got under it, and I hated washing it, so now I use tile in the cage for my pet leopard gecko, and brown packing paper, in my breeder tubs. Mealworms still get under the paper, but I’m not going to title all of those tubs. Plus I think paper, make cleaning a lot easier, and I also want to keep my Leos in top shape. The pet cage I don’t worry about as much because it is 3’x 2’ so she has enough room, to get away from the fecal matter, and I clean it everyday.
