Hi i was wondering if anyone had information on charcoal geckos or have gecko projects like them{currently only at jmgreptiles}. I'm not talking about the black velvet/pearls. but to me the charcoals seem to be a line bred melanistic morph. I guess there in lies my real ? does anyone have any line bred melanistic leos? Also if anyone has the genetics for the black velvet/pearls {res/dom/co-dom/etc...} it would be nice to know them.

I myself, have never heard of the charcoal, and from my knowledge there isn't a true melanistic morph of leopard geckos yet. And it's looking like black pearls are a recessive trait.

Charcoal Leopard Gecko Project - 3/6/09.
The Charcoal Leopard Gecko is a dark morph project that we have been working on. This project started with a founding female that was born in house that had a nearly solid black tail. The goal of this project is a solid black leopard gecko, and you can see the progress we have made already in the picture to the right of a second generation gecko. We have noticed some fantastic black spotting popping up on the neck and throat on the Charcoals. Not sure if it's anything new.Such leo usually get called Dirty hypo's wheather Charcoal is any differant who knows.

There are members of this forum that has leo's the same tome of color also.
