I've been using paper towels and they are not as cheap and reusable as you'd think especially if you use them for everything else so I'm on the hunt for a fairly cheap substrate that will be long lasting and is pretty low maintance. I've thought of going back to reptile carpet but once that hting is dirty it stays dirty until you clean it out and it gets dingy after awhile, just not a fan. Then I thought hey let me get some tile but finding a place to cut and getting the correct measurements is annoying. So any other ideas that fit my needs? lol

what about solid shelf liner ( the one without holes). You can cut it into any shape and cleaning is a breeze.

do you have to replace it continously or can you wipe it down. I was thinking about shelf liner but I never used it for the tank or my shelves. lol

I use Kraft Paper(what I generally pack with) as its cheap($3.98 for a 150Ft Roll), and can be cut to any shape or size.

i use tile. you can cut the tile your self its not hard as you think. if you have a dremal its very easy. if you have a lowas or homedepot they both should be able to cut the tile for you. most tiles only cost $1 or 2 each plus they make tile in ALOT of different sizes. you could most liky find something that will fit without cuting.

Shelf liner is machine washable if you need to really clean it, otherwise I just
wipe it down.

Thanks so much that Kraft Paper seems like a Great Idea and REALLY cheap! I'm tired of selling my mothers paper towels, lol. I might be in Home Depot tomorrow so I'll be looking at tile, Kraft paper and self liner and homefully make my decision
