take a small wad of toilet paper. get it wet.

put it in with bugs.

next day, do the same thing, but throw old tp away.

no mold. no drowing. very clean. super cheap.

easy.

That sounds like a pretty good idea, but one thing. Wouldnt them eating the toilet paper clog their insides?? Also, your herps would be eaing TP little by little, that might cause some digestion problems. What do you guys think??

they dont eat it. they just suck on it. try it with a couple crix or roaches.

put the bugs in a jar without water for a day, then add the wet tp. you can watch them sucking. how do i know they are sucking but not eating? their mandibles are not moving.

as far as them getting stuck to it, i havent had that problem yet, but my roaches havent started laying eggs yet.

hmmm this is an awesome idea. Not only is it going to be amazingly cheaper, but it also wont make as much of a mess. Awesome idea HepCatMoe, this'll be great for my beetles:main_thumbsup:

When I was breeding roaches, the best thing I found was water crystals from this company : http://watersorb.com/index.html

The crystals absorb the water and can be re-hydrated indefinitely. This stuff works great!

However, if your breeding insects and you want them to produce well this is not enough. To get maximum production, you should feed fresh fruits and veggies. I would always have a dry food mix I put together along with fruit and veggies.

TP is not going to give them anything but water and just like us, if you fill up with water there ins't room for much food. Fruits and veges are the way to go, that way they get something form the water source.

Exactly... I should also add to my post above that I only used water crystals when I would be away for awhile. Otherwise, I would only use fruits/veggies/dry mix.
