I picked up this black melamine single shelf book case for $4 at a local flea market Saturday. I is going to be either a hatchling rack, or adult rack depending upon what I figure. Here are the dimensions 25 3/4" tall and 35" wide with a depth of 12 inches. The only problem with that is a 6 qt. bin is 5" tall and 13 1/4" front to back. My only option for doing a hatchling rack is putting the bins in the front hanging out 1 1/4" with the lids on them. With 16 qt. sterlites I can have them 3 x 2 bins. The bins would be sideways. I really need a hatchling rack, so I think I will make at least 2 shelves of 6 qt's. Now all I need to do is find a black sheet of melamine......

Check the shelving area at your local Home Depot or Lowes. They usually sell extra shelves and replacement parts for those types of shelving units. Our Home Depot carries them in 2 different shades of fake wood, in addition to black, and white.
