Chick feed moldier?

Has anyone noticed that chick feed tends to accumulate mold faster than bran or cornmeal (with mealworms)? Or is it just me? It seems like it accrues mold within a day or two of being added to my mealworm colony.

I tried chicken mash, but I found that the mealworms were less healthy than when I used my own homemade gutload, and my geckos lost weight during the 3 month mash experiment. And the grain mites were out of control. So I put my mealie colony back into the gutload I made, and everything went back to normal.

Mash works for some people, but I was not one of them. Marcia has a very strong point about aflatoxins, so pay heed to that advice as well...

DO NOT LET YOU CHICKEN MASH GET MOLDY!!! It is an aflatoxin, and can ultimately poison you geckos!
Well it killed off my mealworm colony twice before I could feed the affected worms to my geckos (I was feeding them off refrigerated worms so my colony would have time to grow) so I don't think I need to worry.

That's reason enough for me to throw it out, thanks.
