What is it suppose to look like?

I went to a feed store and asked for a non medicated chicken laying mash and they showed me a fine grain looking thing mixed with cut up corns and some other stuff.

I thought laying mash was all fine grains?

This is for the superworms and mealworms bedding.

Should i still microwave it before use to prevent grain mites?

not sure what feezer source you might have available. Most freezers can reach 0 if not
-10F store it in there for 3-5 days. Doing so will take care of all grain pest eggs, grain mites, book lice and any other unwanted pests. I learned that lesson the hard way. Lost $9K worth of superworms last fall. I got in contact with a grain pest expert from Kansas state.

He recommended storing it at 0F or cold for about 5 days. Because microwaving or baking it will cause it to lose nutritional value. He did strongly suggest that it really needed to be atleast 0F

But I say better safe than sorry if microwave is only available source its much better than taking a risk of unwanted grain pests.

You can use the chicken mesh you described. Or you can use oats steel crimped or rolled(probably the better choice of the two) or what most people prefer wheat bran. But no matter the choice make sure you take measures to avoid grain pests.
