Citres update 1

Okay so many of you know i am starting a citres project and i started okay so heres what my tubs looked like last night and there tubs were not in there rack because of humidty issues.


heres the beetles:

Pros of using citres on your beetles:None found yet.

Cons: They dont find the oranges well or eat them and also i found a decrease in breeding usually i have a group breeding all the time and last night and tody i found none.




Heres my meal worm bin last night:

Pros: They drink and eat it very well they wanted it more then carrots and anything.

Cons: I usually get a few pupa a day using carrots and phoatos and when I used the orange and I got no pupa.


Okay so far this shows that the oranges decreased breeding and morphing.

I've always read somewhere on the Internet that you shouldn't use any citrus fruits for mealworms or superworms because of their citric acid content.

I'm not sure if that's true or not, though. It would definitely help to know, since I have a larger stock of oranges than carrots or potatoes.

I have personally found that my old leo, Wrex, would not touch mealworms if they had eaten oranges or other citrus fruits. I believe that the orange/citrus created an adverse or overwhelming taste that he did not find palatable. When I fed potatoes, which are high in starch, I noticed an increased appetite.

Every ones in a while i well buy some roachs and feed them, At the store they are feed oranges and roach chow. And my geckos pound them down... with the melies i found the oppasit like you.
