Clarification needed on gutloading mealworms

So, I am getting my leo this Saturday and need to clarification on gutloading. I am planning on mainly feeding him mealworms, with an occasional cricket feeding every now and then. I know that the breeder feeds exclusively mealworms.

I ordered "Worm bedding" gutload from Cricketfood.com, but they are having some delays in processing and shipping their orders. So, I am pretty positive that I am going to need to buy some this week before I get my leo.

Questions:
1) Any recommended brands of "over-the-counter" gutload?

2) I am planning on buying mealworms from a local pet supply store and keeping them in the fridge (in a small tub). A worker there said that they will "hibernate" in my fridge until I take them out. She said that mealies in the tub will survive for about a month in the fridge. Is this true?

3) I have read that the mealies all have to be taken out to feed every week? Is that true? I know they must be gutloaded 24-hours prior to feeding, but I just want to make sure I have this down...

So, I would think.... I need to keep the mealies in the fridge all the time. At 24-hours prior to feeding, I should remove 10-15 of them from the fridge and put them in a container for gutloading? Then, if any are leftover after feeding, I put them back in the fridge with the others? Is this correct?

THANKS! :D

I plan on buying a 1lb bag of this friday and try it out. http://www.progeckos.com/ I hear that is a good gutload for crickets and mealworms.

I mostly feed my leo's crickets but I mix it up sometimes, over the counter I use the Flurkers High Calcium Cricket Feed, I drop some in their house at all times and put them in a plastic box before I feed them, I also use Flurkers Cricket Quencher (this replaces water) both of those you can get at
petsmart/or local pet store.

I also mix it up using a carrot or potato, or sometimes even both. I'm sure you can use this for mealworms as well.
Also I dust my crickets for my older gecko 1-2 times a week, and my baby I dust daily with calcium powder.

I keep my mealies in the fridge, when I take them out and leave them to gutload in their own box, for 1-2 hours.

This is my method I'm sure with time you will develop your own. ;)

Congrats on getting a new leo too!

Depending on the temp in your fridge they usually do OK as long as you take them out eery few days to eat, but I have had times that I lost several thousand in the fridge. I keep mine in the bathroom closet, its about 65 so they are cool enough to not morph out but still warm enough to eat.

If you need a fast gutload you can get total brand cereal and put it in the blender to powder it up for them.

I put a little vionate & osteo form in the mealiedish in the tub (kvvetsupply.com) and usually put in 50-60 mealies every few days or when they eat them all.
