Cleaning Mealworms

How often do you guys change the bedding? Also when the Mealworms molt, do you take the sheds out, or do you not worry about them?

How often do you guys change the bedding?

I change it when it starts to turn to powder, in my feeder colony

Also when the Mealworms molt, do you take the sheds out, or do you not worry about them?

Sometimes, if I have some get caught when shifting out the mealworms, I’ll pull it out, that way I don't have to worry about it, but I don't really take any time to do it. .

Ok because the top of the oatmeal is full of them.I was seeing what you guys do

do you take the sheds out, or do you not worry about them?

If you have lots of sheds and are feeding from that container it can help you see the worms. You can take a vacuum hose end held high enough over them, to only pull out the light weight sheds.

I use a wire mesh sieve and sift the mealworms, then pick out the dead & slimey ones, and then use my blow dryer on the cool setting to blow off all the casings! LOL!!!
