Cleaning Question

I am starting a 29 gallon leopard tank and am either going to use repti carpet or slate tile. What is routine maintenance for both of these options. BTW, I dont want a substrate debate, just the cleaning of both.

I use repti carpet and I just remove the poo daily and then once a week I rinse the carpet with hot water. It helps to have 2 that way you don't have to wait for it to dry.

One thing I dont like about repti carpet is (IMO) it seems like it would be breeding ground for bacteria if not cleaned properly.
A great cleaner to use for animals is (chlorohexidine) you can order a gallon online for around $10.00.

Yeah after a couple months, even with cleaning them, I replace them. You can get repti carpet pretty cheap on Amazon though.

Chlorhexidine is awesome. Personally, I'd go with slate tile. Spot clean daily picking up poop as you see it. Once a month steam clean everything, or chlorhexidine bath the tiles and allow to completely dry. I adhere, grout and seal my tiled tanks, so I just have to spray the chlorhexidine and wipe it all up, let dry, put gecko back in. Takes 5 minutes, if even lol.

I also use slate tile, but mine isn't adhered, grouted or sealed. I just put down a layer of sand, then put the tiles on top of it. Ozy has a certain tile she likes to poop on, so I just use a butter knife and pop that one out, clean, put it back in. Then about once a week I take all of the tiles out and scrub them really well with diluted Dawn dish soap and a toothbrush. Plus, with repti-carpet I've heard of leos getting their nails stuck in it. I've always used slate tile though, except for when she was really little. Then I used paper towels.
