Close ups

I am having the hardest time taking any type of closeup shot. What settings do you guys use on your manual settings? I have tried taking the pic from further away and then it looks sharp on the computer, but once I crop it to the size I want, it becomes blurry. Any help is appreciated.

I am using a 7 megapixel samsung camera. I know I should put out the cash and get one of those nice Canon Rebel EOS, but I just can't afford it right now :(

Thanks for your help.

Im no photographer so I do not know the best possible method for doing this. But most cameras have a 'Macro' feature for close-up shots. It's usually represented with I think a flower looking icon.

I do believe that the macro setting is accessed by hitting the control dial (on the back) on flower which is at 6o'clock on the dial ;) From there just stay steady, frame it and experiment with what works best for you and your camera.

Use the macro setting and experiment with how close that you can get without the pic getting blurry-as far as I know that depends upon the lens of the camera
As was said-usually there is a flower icon that is on a dial that you push on and a flower will show up on your display screen
Some point and shoot cameras have super macro also but that can get too grainy

Don't be afraid to take a zillion pics and make a note of how far and what setting that each batch is taken

What is the strength of the optical zoom on your camera and does the camera have any kind of motion or image stabilization??

Those are two things that I found to be important on a point and shoot digital camera

Good Luck and have fun!!

uh huh

Well now I feel stupid. This whole time there has been that flower thing on the back of my camera. I had no idea what it was for. Just thought it was for like outside pics or something. So I pressed the flower and now my camera can take closeups. Sometime you just wanna hit yourself in the head. Thanks everyone for the answer!
