cocooning silkworms

ok so i have some silkworms and some of them r huge and i was just wondering the easist way to tell when they are ready to cocoon. thanks

They will usually start spinning silk when they are ready. I've seen people put the card board egg crate into their container of silk worms so that they have a place to create a cocoon.
