coils

Does anyone here know of people who use coils for their bearded dragons? I've never used coils as a personal preference, but I am also aware of the precautions taken with them and the potential (I'm not saying certain) threats. But I'm curious to know how many still use, or know of people who use them, because it seems very uncommon now than it was back then. I think it all started with the whole uvb study done in europe if I'm not mistaken. That study changed a lot of peoples minds. I remember some tubes were also criticized. Heck, the zilla 50 uvb tubes I use now for my beardie were in that study, but I wasn't scared off, I like them despite the fact they were re-created. However, the study itself didn't scare me away from coils, I had this opinion way beforehand. I just didn't like them. Anyone else? were you swayed by the study or because of it?

I use a tube myself but I have a friend that uses coil UVB bulbs. Her beardies are both healthy and thriving. I think the key is making sure they can get close enough to the UV to absorb it in sufficient quantities. It's of no use if it's way above the beardie sitting on top of a tank, kwim?
