Is very stressful. I had orientation today and its been nothing but a huge mess.
My community college credits hadn't been transfered yet and I was three points below the math test so I have to re-take asap to try to get into math
I found out I barley have enough grants to cover tuition and maybe a tad bit of books
And my chemistry class I dropped because I am so frustrated, for one class it has three separate parts all at different times 2-3 hours apart.

The worst thing is, I don't have a car. the campus is a two and half hour ride on the city bus.
And I have to work full time because unfortunately I dont have and ideal life where I can just be unemployed.
So in order to take the bus and go to class I need two class days that are days off from work but it isn't working out.

I already have two online classes but I don't think I will do well with an online math class because I am very poor in math (Funny because my major is lab animal science)

I am overwhelmed to say none the least.
I am hoping that I get the grade on the math test and hopefully maybe put me in some other science class that will fit my schedule.
And hopefully they can do it on the phone because I Don't feel like going back there tomorrow.

Yea I cant know from experience but from what people tell me and what my girlfriend is doing yea its pretty stressful. Why dont you just try to dooroom at your college saves the trip back fourth what everyday? I was never good at math I always struggled with it I had to really try when I was in high school my last year I managed to get a B in it so I was pretty happy about that. For the money issue why dont you just get out a student loan? A lot of students have to get out loans because yea they obviously cant pay for college.

Well dorms cost money, right now I am living free
And dorms means no pets, and I refuse to let go of my pets.

You need a co-signer for a loan and my mom refuses and my grandparents are not eligible.

I am dreading this fall so badly. I am commuting to and from school too, and the campus is about 30-40 mins away from my house, but I won't dorm because
A. I don't want to be so far from Daniel all the time
B. No pets, no privacy, no space
C. No airconditioning.

I don't know where I'm going to find gas money as long as prices keep going up. Not to mention other college expenses. Luckily I got a large scholarship that covers a little over half of my tutition, the rest is being paid for by student loans. 4 days out of the week I'll be on campus from about 8:30 to 2:30 so I'll need to buy lunch... more cash I don't really have at the moment:main_no:

As for student loans... they suck very badly. I have 3 different loans. The second largest loan, given to me by the college, is for $9000. The automatic payback option is for 20 years... which drags out the interest. The total I will owe back for that $9000 is going to be $27,000. It's insane. I'll never be out of debt.

I was hoping to be able to work most evenings after my classes, and to work on the weekends to help get enough cash to have a decent savings. I was going to take Friday as my only day off. I scheduled my classes back in April, and only had classes Monday through Thursday, to allow myself a little extra time. They contacted me three days ago to let me know that one of my classes changed and now I have to take that drive to the campus every friday to sit through a 45 minute class. Right in the middle of the day. What a waste.

Not to mention they are requiring that spend 4 days prior to the start of classes on campus taking part in 'Pre-class activities'. Is this something your college is doing as well? I had never heard of being forced to take part in extracircular activities in college...

On top of it all... I have a summer assignment. A report due on the first day of my first class.

I hate my college, and I haven't even started the classes yet. I am so stressed that I wouldn't be surprised if I have a nervous break down my first day :main_laugh: :(

See I am thankfully for my grants. I haven't even applied for any scholarships

(I hope no one takes this bad) but i live in a very heavily populated Hispanic region ( a lot of illegals) and a lot of the scholarship bullitns are for Hispanics. They even gave out university scholarships to ILLEGALS. I didn't even have to prove I was a US citizen, which is funny because at community college you do.
Arizona is minority based, so being white isn't so good over here. I had to rely on my academics and my financial need, thankfully giving me a little over 13,000 a year.

I have been going to community college since I was 15 (Mind you Aug 4 I turn 18) on a scholarship and THANK GOD because I have my english and a lot of humanities and social behavior plus two electives done. 22 credits, almost a full year in the wind.
It was hard going to high school full time and then dragging myself to college on Saturdays plus working full time (That means at least 38 hours) but now I really see how it pays off.
That my upper hand I guess because I see that college will pay off.

Mind you, I used to be a journalist major and did a whole bunch of programs through ASU Walter Cronkite school and was even published in the major phoenix newspaper the Arizona Republic AND volunteered at the ASU art museum hoping for it to give me a boost (It didn't they never even recognized it)

Well I just took the math test and I scored one point higher than the minimum, I feel good. Hopefully everything will work out now.

OH, and as for my mom she was a drug addict and a alcohol abuse until I was 8, and now its permently messed her up.
She is clinically bi polar with no meds and has severe emotional issues, so a lot of people disagree with how my mom raises me (and how I raise her kids)
But sometimes you get dealt with a hand like that, if anything I have grown up without a father and mother, and it makes me a stronger more independent person. (and no, i didn't have grandparents either. I was alone most of the time or was "watched" by my cousin who is 9 years older and really didn't want a little girl bothering him) I am telling you, I was the most self efficient five year old you ever seen.

I mean, look I think I have accomplished a lot so far in my life. I don't think I would have tried so hard if it wasn't for the driving force that I don't want this lifestyle I have anymore.

you sound like you're going to do just fine. you're obviously well driven so just keep on giving it your all. I just recently finished school....loans are going to come soon, but fortunately I was able to start my new job the Monday after finals week and have been making enough money to actually save for a change. Fight through these next few years, they are challenging in every way you can imagine but in the end it really is worth it

Im really sorry to hear that about your mom..... I learned a few years ago drugs arent worth they only ruin your life and the ppl you care about. My brothers girlfriend has a mom that was same unfortunately. I would have to agree with ataber that you should be fine. I mean if you were that young and had to take care of yourself and others you shouldnt have a problem accomplishing college and becoming successful at what you want to do.
