Color changes

We just got a new male MSP yesterday. In the pic from the breeder, he is nearly completely white, with some yellow. When he arrived, he was brown. Now, I know this is normal because lizard colors darken when they are stressed, and I'm sure he was stressed from shipping (the Next Day Air failed and he was in a box for two days - very very cold when I got him).

My question is, about how long does it take, on average, for their colors to go back to normal? He appeared to be lighter last night, but was darker again today.

There probably isn't a "normal" color. My snow patternless changes colors all time, every time I open the bin it's a surprise. On the other hand my patternless female pretty much stays the same color so it's a toss up. Good looking MSP tho.

Thanks! That is what I was also thinking, but then again, my other female MSP is always pink! LOL

I just hope he lightens up to the nice white from the breeder's stock photo... I don't suspect that the photo wasn't brightened or anything, I really trust the breeder.

I was also thinking maybe he was still so dark because he's still stressed from shipping? He warmed up quickly once I put him into his cage, rubbed himself all over for about an hour, and hasn't been moving around or doing much of anything since.. Of course, I can't watch him all of the time, though

This is normal due to shipping...Especially if it was 2 days. Stress will do that. I would leave the gecko alone for a few days so it can settle in only changing food water etc...I know the breeder from the pic and his animals are amazing. The geckos will get its color once it is settled...:) :)

My patternless will change on its own with no changes to its environment. It will go from very dark to a very light color, im not sure what its "true" color is, although it is dark more often than it is light.

Thanks, that's what we've been doing.. I woke up in the middle of the night last night and noticed that he was walking around, exploring =) so I think he will be just fine with a little more time.

and yes, his animals are amazing!! And he is the friendliest I've bought from too :)

I bet your super snow patties are beautiful :) that's one of my favorite morphs, I can't wait to produce some!

He actually has lightened up more and is walking around while we're awake too, so he seems to be doing much better ;)

Very nice website btw Kyle
