Hiya folks!

New owner - just got my little guy yesterday morning and he's precious <3

I just wanted to express early gecko parent concern - I work full time so I'm not able to observe the lil' guy during the day, but when I got him (had him shipped from a breeder) and put him in his enclosure he went straight to the warm hide. When I got home, he was in his cool hide. Not that unusual. But this morning when I checked up on him, he was still in the cool hide (checked @ around 9am), and when I came back home from work, he was still in the cool hide. I'm concerned that he may be spending too much time there. Is there a possibility he may just be ignoring his hot hide? It's about 90 degrees in there - I have it hooked up to a thermostat to regulate temperature, and temperature doesn't fluctuate over 91 or under 81 (It's generally at 88-90). So it seems to be just about the right temperature regulation.

I know that these guys need the heat to digest properly. He hasn't pooped or peed yet (I have some mealworms in a dish in his enclosure but he hasn't touched them. As to be expected due to the stress of shipping.) His breeder said she fed him the night before he left for my place. I don't want him to have trouble digesting - is it a problem if he isn't using his hot hide as far as I've observed?

I also want to reduce the stress level for him as much as possible. I have a foamcore piece blocking out the glass on his cool hide (it's one of those multi level +++++ hides that you place against the side of the tank. He loves it and every time I check on him he's on a different level). I keep lifting it up to see him - I don't like the anxiety of not knowing if he's doing ok. Should I stop doing that? I'm not handling him, just lifting the piece up and occasionally keeping it up to see him. Will that stress him out too much seeing as he's still getting used to his environment?

Hope to get back some answers. I'm probably worrying too much, but I already love him and want him to be as comfy as possible. The moving process is stressful on these guys after all :)
